Thread: CrewChief Version 4.18.5.2 crashes on startup

  1. #11
Seven Smiles you have refered to my log file and mentioned, that the program wasn't the one you built and released. This confuses me also, because I just have downloaded the latest update, which was shown on startup of CrewChief app. After I installed this, I had the crashes immediately and directly after starting up CC app after updating. I uninstalled afterwards everything and downloaded then the latest release of CC here in the download section for a complete install fcrom scratch. Same symptoms and CC is crashing the same way. If both of these downloads are not from you, where can I get then the working and correct one built from you?

I also tried now to collect the boot trace according the guide you mentioned. Whatever I put into command prompt, its not working with mentioned steps. But I found in my CC-folder under my documents the ErrorLog.txt file. but its to big to upload here in the forum.

If you could help me on this issues I really would be grateful to get your support on that.

I'm looking forward to hear from you and many thanks.

Can you please explain where is the path you are talking about?
It's under Properties, iRacing launch exe
    -I used to have "C:\Program Files (x86)\iRacing\ui\iRacingUI.exe"
-After the update, it would error on launch.
-I removed the quotes so it is just C:\Program Files (x86)\iRacing\ui\iRacingUI.exe

    That's what worked for me.

I have now experimented a little more and have now completely uninstalled crewchief and deleted all CC-related folders, files and previous versions. After reinstalling CC it is now running as expected and the crashes are fixed. I simply searched for CrewChief in Windows Explorer and then deleted everything. Before deleting, I backed up various files, which are mentioned below:
    C:\Users\Steffi-PC\OneDrive\Documents\CrewChiefV4\defaultSettings. json and mypersonalSettings.json
    C:\Users\Steffi-PC\OneDrive\Documents\CrewChiefV4\ControllerData\ defaultSettings.json

    C:\User\AppData\Local\C:\Users\Username\AppData\Lo cal\Britton_IT_Ltd\CrewChiefV4.exe_Url_ltwjk4vypog atqgrzioneuqoankc3spb\4.18.5.1\user.config

So that I don't have to completely reconfigure CrewChief, I would like to transfer all my settings from the last version. However, I am not sure in which file all the settings are stored and would be grateful for detailed information. I have customised and extended so many things for iRacing, among other things, and would like to have these settings back 1:1. I have also configured a button on the steering wheel to communicate with CC via voice recognition. Is this button stored in the defaultSettings.json under ControllerData?

Thank you for information and support.

There are definetly issues with that version. As long as the settings are set on default, CC doesn't crash, as soon as the auto launch options of the sims are selected, CC crashes again and quits. I really would like to forward my errorLog.txt file, can't upload it here due the size. How can I forward it by mail directly to the devopers?

Thanks Raj - this worked for me - it's a bit of a work around but here goes -

In Properties the iRacing launch exe text box was empty so I simply entered (as Raj suggested) -> C:\Program Files (x86)\iRacing\ui\iRacingUI.exe - now iRacing boots up automatically when I click on the CC icon to start Crew Chief. - Simple really!!

Thanks guys, that worked for me too. CC just suddenly started crashing on launch today so something must have changed somewhere. This fixed it

seems with latest update everything works again as it should. due to my complete uninstall and reinstall i lost all my cc-config for iracing and i can't remember my settings. If somebody of you could forward me a more or less perfect configuration would help me a lot in saving time. I use also speech recognition and I don't know my former settings therefore anymore too.

If also settings for the most common sims like LMU, AC/ACC, RRE, AMS2 i wojuld really be grateful. I guess the most easiest way would be sending me the personalsetting json file?
