Crew Chief says it can't unistall previous verision when doing latest update

I got an error saying Crew chief could not uninstall previous version when applying the latest update. and then when I tried to do a fresh install I get this message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable" and I try selecting the folder where the .msi file and the same message comes up.Name: Screenshot 2024-12-11 211054.jpg

This is a Windows problem that has been reported occasionally, no idea why it happens, sorry.

wait, so if this error occurs, CC cannot and will not ever work?

So I decide to update to new version of crew chief and I'm done with it because of windows? That doesn't make sense when it was working fine before the update

Sorry, what I had in my head was different to what I wrote. CC uses an off-the-shelf installer https://wixtoolset.org/ so any problems installing it are generic Windows problems (often anti-virus tools "protecting" you) and not anything specific to CC itself. We can help with errors when CC is running the code we wrote, the installer is a black box we know nothing about.

Glad to see someone on Discord was able to solve it.

That makes a little more sense now. I had to do a system restore to get old crew chief back, but I will look on discord.

Turns it was the Virus protection. Once I disabled it I was able to get it to work. Funny how I have never had any problems before with updating. Maybe there was an update in the install wrapper you use that the Anti Virus doesn't like.

We always use the same (quite old) version of the installer, the only thing that changes are updates to Visual Studio used to write the code.
