Fatal Error pop-up window

Hi. Ever since I had a black screen PC crash a couple of days ago, I get a fatal error message pop-up window that say the following...

Error message: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Joe\Documents\CrewChiefV4\startupError.t xt' is denied.

I have completely uninstall CrewChief and cleaned the registry, but even with a fresh install, I still get the same error. Any have any ideas as to how to fix it. Ay help would be appreciated.

This might be caused by the Windows Ransomware Protection feature. See if whitelisting CC like explained here helps.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I don't have "Ransomware Protection" running because I don't have Microsoft Windows Defender Antivirus enabled. I never have in 5 years of owning this PC. (I use a third party antivirus provider). ChrewChief has worked fine for years until last week when I first got the error message (above).

Any other ideas?

no WD/Windows RP does not mean non-MS tools don't do the same blocking. All I could suggest is to m ake sure that not Administrator user can write/read to Documents\CrewChiefV4. Try taking ownership of the folder and giving full access to Joe?

Tried everything with folder permissions etc. No Luck. Spent far too much time on it, so in the end I did a system restore to a date before the black screen/crash I had. Re-installed CCv4 and all working fine now.
