Noob question: Frequency of <x> in options

For example: "Frequency of gap ahead reports"

Does a bigger number mean more often (i.e. 4 --> 8 is twice as often) or does it mean "every <x> laps" (so 4 would happen twice as often as 8)?

Related; what do the numbers actually represent?

    Cheers

heh... you got me. Those "frequency" number are a bit rubbish TBH. Generally, "0" means disabled, "1" means "very rarely", up to "9" which means "far too often". But there's no real consistency here. This number is used as part of whatever calculation is used to determine whether to play a particular message.

For example, for the "you need to overtake this guy" message, the frequency value is used to determine how close you need to be, and for how many consecutive sectors you need to be close
