I'm racing on Sim Racing System a lot and it has given me great insight into my own skill level.
For me finishing in top ten is pretty good overall, especially when coming from starting 19th. Unfortunately CrewChief has a different idea because when I finished he said "too bad, better luck next time".
It would be cool if Crewchief took starting position in consideration when giving a finishing message. IF possible.
Otherwise it would be cool if we as players could define an acceptable finishing position for our own skill level and have CrewChief take that into account...

Just a thought...

Cheers!

It does take starting position into account a bit, but the logic is quite simple and the app does expect quite high finishing position before congratulating the player. Perhaps a global 'expectation' slider would be cool. I'll have a think about it

Probably, finishing in top half is decent. If I understand correctly in iRacing your rating goes up in such case. So, while I am all for realism, not saying "ok finish" for finishing 7th out of 19 is a bit harsh, even by my standards:)
Slider might be a good idea :)

iRating increases aren't quite as linear as that. It's a great system they've created .. your rating goes up if you finish higher than drivers with a better iRating than you .. your iRating increases as a factor of how many other better drivers you beat for that given race .. so, for the most realism, Crew Chief would need to take this into account (or at least, it would be really cool if it could) but I understand this wouldn't be a simple rule such as if <driver> finishes better than <x> position then say "good job" .. there's a lot of other dynamic factors to consider for the specific context of the race you're in ..

This app is put together so well though, i wouldn't be surprised to see it get that sophistication in logic .. as long as iRacing is making that data available when it's needed to begin with.
