View Full Version : Version 4.6.6.4 msi please?
i try upgrading to the latest but the installer asks for the CrewChiefV4.msi . it think it asks for the old one, as it seem to default to the C:\Users\steinw\AppData\Local\Temp\ folder. Can you please provide me with the old 4.6.6.4 msi file? it does not help to give path to the newest one in my c:\downloads folder
note that msi installers always require to be found when uninstalling so i might ask you to read up on this and maybe change the installer behaviour so it copy itself into a correct place (c:\Windows\Installer\ ?) or you must start using version names of the msis. The installer looks for the version info inside the msi and need the exact unique msi for install. not 100% sure of this though.

Dont think you can find that version, unless Jim has a copy of it in his super organized libery.

try this tool: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2008.08.utilityspotlight.aspx
Also, note that %windir%\installer and PackageCache folder contents are not to be modified by the user :)
does the automatic update within crewchief download to %temp% before installing?

Solved. The problem was my internet connection
I was able to finally uninstall by using this program (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed) and then reinstall the latest version.
Seems like my story is not finished. I was now stuck on version 7.7.9 and I cannot update to latest. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled but it still was the same old 7.7.9. In the end I uninstalled and discovered that all the files was still present in c:\Program Files (x86)\Britton IT Ltd\CrewChiefV4\ so I renamed it to CrewChiefV4_old and then reinstalled. finally it was updated. This MSI stuff is really weird. I don't have any other apps with problems.
