Pushed another beta (4.6.7.1) and corrected the link (oops)

Bump - yet another beta release, bit of a spotter re-write :(

mr_belowski
13-07-2017, 20:35
OK, this beta has been tested enough (3 minutes) so is now live. Link removed till the next hastily prepared and ill-thought-through beta is available

Bump, 4.7.7.0 (RF2 plugin and data handling re-write) is now available a beta release

another update - this beta will now try (and probably fail) to map data if it sees a pCARS2 process

Sooo, pcars2 is supported? Can't find where to point the installation directory, though? I know you are betatesting! Cause pcars has the most embarrasing spotter ever...

mr_belowski
23-07-2017, 11:37
Pcars 2 should just work in you run the app in pcars 64bit mode - you don't need to add the installation directory or anything

Ahh its only the app? Sorry only using your fantastic pc software!

mr_belowski
23-07-2017, 13:16
I meant the pc app actually - if you're lucky enough to have pcars 2 it should work with the latest release version. I'd appreciate feedback as I don't have pcars2

Well i'm a betatester (paying crowdfunder) on pcars2. So i can check it out. This far i havent been able to get it running though? But then again, i tried adding the directory to "pcars1 x64" in the properties tab? Not working. But what game should i choose in the games list on the top-right?

mr_belowski
23-07-2017, 14:33
don't worry about the properties screen - these settings are for when you want Crew Chief to launch the game for you. Launch PCars2 and ensure that "shared memory" is enabled (in PCars1 this is a setting in the graphics -> performance menu).

In Crew Chief just select Project Cars (64bit) from the games list in the top right corner and hit "Start application". It should say something like "Initialised pcars2 shared memory".

I've had to make some guesses here - what the memory mapped file is called and what the .exe is called, but another beta tester said it was working

oh dear :(

Not sure what is causing that - there might be a clue in the Windows Event Logs (look for a .Net error in Application Logs).

I got it to work :D First i had set the topoption to pcars2, then i got the message above. Will try some more now!

I have been so excited about update after update! So i supported you a little with a £10 :) but!

I went to try the other voice, Geoffrey, but nothing changed? I downloaded the update and all?

mr_belowski
28-07-2017, 15:28
Bear in mind that the Geoffrey voice is the spotter only (car left / car right etc). The crew chief is still jim

Can confirm pcars1 and Geoffrey works for me this end Clare is still the best though I think.

Did you make sure you restarted the app when you are prompted, when you change the spotter - first time I cancelled the prompt and manually restarted the app and this didn't bring Geoffrey online even though it said he was selected . I changed to clare and pressed OK when prompted and all worked fine

Beta updated again with Vytautas' very excellent re-write of the optional interrupt beep stuff

The Iron Wolf
12-08-2017, 16:50
Thanks Jim. Speaking of personal preferences, I noticed that Beep out/in functionality works better if used with "Use alternate beep" setting on. That way, (to my ear of course, which is subjective), Chief communication gets gentle beep, but Spotter gets sharper beep which stands out and catches your attention.

mr_belowski
12-08-2017, 17:39
Yes, I think it might be worth making this the default actually

The Iron Wolf

But see Jim, it only makes sense if those fake beeps are enabled, and they aren't by default.

mr_belowski
12-08-2017, 19:59
Yeah, you're right. As usual :(

Will test the beta later and promote it to live if it's ok. I put a soundpack together with mike's spotter and Matt's new spotter sounds - will release this too. Are Phil's worth adding?

Nah Jim, just picky perfectionist.
I like Phil's work, one of the best in my opinion. The problem is there might be a bit too much noise, and some phrases are not clear enough. Check it out when you have time.

The Iron Wolf
12-08-2017, 20:05
We may want to simply enable fake Bleep in by default. It is reliable enough and I think some people will be happy with one more immersion detail.

mr_belowski
12-08-2017, 21:30
yet another Beta update, with these defaults changed and a couple of other minor tweaks. This will go 'live' tomorrow so if it's broken and no one tests, you only have yourselves to blame :D

mr_belowski
13-08-2017, 08:17

Hey thanks! It's my first time doing this sort of thing.
Let me know which phrases to re-record, I can do some more variations and speak more clearly. I am handy with audio editing as well, I can filter out some of the noise.
Is the whole set worth re-doing?

Hello Phil. I didn't have a chance to get closely familiar with your set to give detailed/quality feedback, only listened to your recordings, which I liked. Will test properly next week, but the folder missing is car_outside. I guess Jim might have more recommendations/feedback. Current release contains your pack, so check it out. Thanks again!

I added car_outside. I also removed a ton of the background noise, boosted the volume and attempted to normalize volume across all tracks.

I'm testing out how good of a spotter I am in Project CARS. It's weird to hear me giving myself calls...

Hi all.
When and where the latest Beta and does it have any Beta bits for PC2?

mr_belowski
07-10-2017, 09:11
No beta available at the moment - the live release is the most up to date available. The pcars 2 API / data format and content isn't available yet - they're still working on it and the team is busy fixing game bugs, so it'll be a while I think.

The next big chunk of testing releases for crew chief will be to test the new iracing functionality

mr_belowski

http://crewchief.isnais.de/CrewChiefV4-4.9.9.0_beta.msi

this beta provides the option to use the built-in Windows speech recognition engine (which can be trained, so might give better results for some users). To enable this you'll need to enable the "Prefer Windows speech recogniser" option in the Properties screen (and don't forget to run through the Speech recognition training in Windows first).

No, this will install on top of current CC. It should be safe though, because new features are optional, and you should be able to install older version on top again, if needed.
